ECOSYSTEM GUIDELINES FOR THE THICKET BIOME 

The guideline is aimed at assisting municipalities, regulatory authorities and landowners in the Thicket Biome to successfully regulate land use and biodiversity in threatened ecosystems by allowing decision makers to promote, protect and conserve vulnerable ecological functions and services. SUBTROPICAL THICKET RESEARCH & PRAXIS STRATEGY (PART 1) 

Workshop proceedings from a facilitated two day workshop in October 2018 with the objective of developing a research framework that could guide the future research and praxis towards sustainable use and restoration of the Subtropical Thicket. The workshop was attended by 65 thicket experts and stakeholders. (Grant- Biggs et al., 2019)


SUBTROPICAL THICKET ECOSYSTEM PLANNING PROJECT (STEP)

The STEP project aimed at producing a thorough and accurate assessment and conservation planning document that described and mapped the Broad Habitat Units of Thicket and related vegetation, as well as provided a means to determine what constitutes these Habitat Units of the Thicket biome in South Africa. STEP also provides a checklist of angiosperm flora and in some cases the avifauna.


OUTCOMES OF TWO WORKSHOPS TO DEVELOP A RESEARCH AND PRAXIS STRATEGY FOR THE THICKET BIOME (PART2 )

The second workshop was supported by 27 thicket experts prior to the Thicket Forum in June 2019 at Addo Elephant National Park. Following the workshop it was unanimously agreed that a group should be selected to co-ordinate and champion research and implementation in thicket. (Grant-Biggs et al,., 2020)
